WE ARE GROWING HOME

We believe that it is a human need for an interconnected and supportive community and a connection to nature in order to thrive. These things are a non-negotiable, biological necessity, without which we suffer. Yet, most of us today lack an extended family or kinship network and live in isolation from the natural world. The purpose of Growing Home is to work together to find ways to rebuild our communities, foster robust health, reconnect with the natural world, and explore the mystery of our existence. Join us as we journey to reclaim, rebuild, and rediscover significant relationships, vital skills, and a balanced and harmonious existence.

Our first event will take place on Saturday, November 4th at the beautiful and magical Buck Creek Sanctuary. More information is coming soon, so be sure to mark your calendars and follow this page!

We invite you to join us as we gather to honor the turning of the season.

Samhain (pronounced Sa-ween), the last of the three traditional harvest festivals acknowledges that Autumn is almost at an end. The year’s harvest is almost all gathered in. The tumult and activity of growing and tending and collecting and curing is slowing down. It’s time to begin the turn inward, to process, to consolidate, evaluate, and prepare for winter - the time of stillness, contemplation, and renewal. Traditional people saw and acknowledged the parallels between the yearly natural and agricultural cycles and the greater cycles of our lives. Conception, birth, growth, maturation, aging, death, and subsequent rebirth are all coded in the celebrations of the seasons. The tapestry of days, years, decades and ages is woven with these threads. Just as the gathered harvest contains the collected, processed, and cherished seeds of the following year’s abundance, we hope that this Samhain Gathering, the first Growing Home venture, will act as the seed of a blossoming new garden in our community. One that nourishes our bodies, minds, spirits, and families.

Join us on November 4 at Buck Creek Sanctuary for a unique Samhain experience whose most fundamental goal is to gather the community together in celebration and acknowledgment of our connection to one another, to the natural world, and to the immutable cycles of our lives.
